This chapter presents an overview of microbiological methods used to investigate bio-corrosion phenomenon. Both classical and modern (rapid) techniques of microbiology applied to detect and enumerate microorganisms in samples collected from sites experiencing metal deterioration problems are outlined and their usefulness briefly discussed.
