Timber and energy
Description
Essentially used as fuel, dendro-energy is today an expanding source of renewable energy in France. Technological progress has significantly enhanced the efficiency of heating devices whose performance is now in some cases comparable to gas-or oil-fuelled systems. The 2000-2006 dendro-energy programme is described with special emphasis on opportunities offered by wood chips in extending the use of wood as a source of energy in the future. (authors)
