Study of selenate influence on goethite crystallization using Moessbauer spectrometry

Description
In our work we focused on identification changes in synthesized goethite caused by different concentrations of selenate during its crystallization. Moessbauer spectrometer equipped with a 57Co/Rh radioactive source was operated in transmission geometry and measurements were performed at a room temperature (∼300 K). Moessbauer spectra indicated a presence of marginal differences in hyperfine magnetic fields. However, our results did not confirm selenate incorporation, but changes on goethite's surface indicated the selenate sorption. (authors)
