Formation of Λ4H hypernuclei from K- absorption at rest on light nuclei

Description
Formation of Λ4H hypernuclei from K- absorption at rest on light nuclear targets was studied by measuring monochromatic π-'s from the two-body decay, Λ4H→4He+π-. The formation probabilities of Λ4H from 4He, 7Li, 9Be, 12C, and 16O targets were extracted to be (0.74±0.10)x10-2, (3.0±0.4)x10-2, (1.57±0.18)x10-2, (1.00±0.14)x10-2, and (0.47±0.08)x10-2 per stopped K-, respectively. Possible mechanisms for the production of Λ4H are discussed
