Measurement of the W mass with UA2
Description
With the new data collected during the 90 run of the CERN p-barp Collider, UA2 has obtained an improved preliminary result on the ratio of the W and Z masses MW/MZ. A brief summary of the method is given, and preliminary results corresponding to the total integrated luminosity are presented. Combined with the MZ value from LEP, this gives a precise absolute measurement of the W mass MW=80.49±0.33(stat.)±0.17(syst.) GeV/c2. (author) 12 refs., 4 figs., 3 tabs
