Reactor control rod

Description

The present invention concerns a reactor control rod used for a BWR type reactor. The control rod comprises a blade having a tie rod at the center thereof. The blade comprises a hafnium plate for nuclear use, and a plurality of holes are laterally perforated in the hafnium plate. The size and the number of the perforations are determined depending on the controlling performance such as a power distribution required for the control rod disposed in the reactor. This can reduce the amount of expensive hafnium used. The surface area of the hafnium is increased. Further, since heat generation due to gamma rays of hafnium is suppressed by the coolasnts present in the perforations, thereby enabling to suppress thermal deformation of the blade. (I.N.)
