Acceleration of the high-current ion beam with optimal density in linear induction LINAC

Description

The 2d3v particle-in-cell simulation results of hollow high-current ion beam dynamics in linear induction linac are presented. The transport and acceleration of high-current ion beam (HIB) with optimal density in six cusps, three of which have accelerating electric field, are considered. It is shown, that additional injection of the electron beams in cusps without accelerating electrical field leads to regular HIB energy accumulation all along the accelerator length and improves ion beam brightness.
