Description
A proportional counter (PC) is described in which the quartz is used as material for the wall. It permits totally to eliminate application of any hermetizing materials leading to substantial spread of the gas amplification (GA) along the anode wire and to resolution deterioration. The PC service life determined by 1% variation of the GA is not less 1.1 x 10- -3 C/cm or 1.5 x 10 10 pulses/cm from photons with the energy of 22 keV at GA equal 447. It is shown that GA value and resolution do not change practically in the temperature range from -50 up to +120 deg C. The 22.2 keV line resolution at the counting rate of 100 s -1 is 7.3%
