Description

Techniques and results of an experimental study on the appearance of critical heat-transfer conditions in steam-generating channels at sinusoidal modifications of heat removal were described. The study was performed in a pressure range of 30-50 atm, mass velocities 100-1000 kg/m2sec, heat removal oscillation frequencies 0.1-3 Hz. The channel was heated by passing a low-voltage a.c. through the tubes, rated output power 114 kW. The following conclusions were made in the paper:(a) in the presence of heat-removal fluctuations, the critical heat load grows with increase of vibration frequencies and mass velocity to decline with pressure increase; and(b) wall thickness did not display any perceptible effect upon the magnitude of the critical heat flux
