Description

The activity concentration of FDNPP accident-derived radiocesium in aerosol, soil, river water and sediment around Ikuta campus, Meiji University were observed to investigate the behavior of radiocesium at Kanto area. These observations were in accordance with the result at other Kanto areas. The activity concentrations of radiocesium in river water and sediment at Shukugawara increased by heavy rain. These results indicate that radiocesium in river side soil and sediment were transported by heavy rain. Long term monitoring of radiocesium in the city environment make possible to know radioactive contamination in low contaminated areas and obtain the parameters for the secondary transport of radiocesium.
