Spectrum of the anode spot oscillator and evolution to chaos by period-doubling
Creators

Description
Under a wide range of circumstances the anode spot oscillator exhibits a transition from a periodic state to a chaotic state as the discharge current is changed. Most frequently this transition is by period-doubling cascade but other scenarios, namely by Hopf bifurcation and by intermittency are also observed. A possible explanation based on the Ginzburg-Landau equation is suggested. (Author)
