Application of risk-informed method in HPR1000 design

Description

The design safety goal of HPR1000 as the self-developed Generation III nuclear power plant is 'core damage frequency (CDF) < 1E-6/reactor·year, large release frequency (LRF) < 1E-7/reactor·year', both of which are lower by one order of magnitude than requirements of Chinese safety regulations. Risk-informed method based on probabilistic safety assessment (PSA) model was adopted in HPR1000 design process in order to improve the safety level and to ensure the realization of the safety goal. Risk-informed design process was used in the whole process of design from conceptual design to the detailed system design,to identify the safety weakness and to make optimization suggestions. The application of risk-informed method greatly improved the safety level of HPR1000. (authors)
