Numerical investigation of the problem of initiation of autowave transmission from nucleate to film boiling regime by a temperature disturbance

Description

Beginning and development dynamics of film boiling on fuel elements are investigated numerically. At the initial stage the investigation is carried out within the frameworks of simplified one-dimensional model, assuming the tru thermal nature of critical phenomena. In this case, it is assumed, that boiling process occurs at semi-infinite thin heat element, placed in liquid large volume. Calculations were carried out for heater, made of platinum wire with diameter d=0.01 cm; λ=0.895 W/(cmxK); c=0.139 J/(gxK); ρ=21.45 g/cm3. Values of heat transfer coefficients and their dependence on temperature, values of critical thermal fluxes and corresponding temperatures conform to the case of water pool boiling
