A note on the pion index of refraction in the Δ-region at low densities

Description

On the basis of a simple model for the pion interaction with nucleons in the Δ region, the validity of the low-density expansion of the proper self-energy is discussed for pions travelling through nuclear matter. A rough limit for the Fermi momentum around 0.5 fm-1 is found. (author)
