An overview is given of the current PEP and PETRA data on lepton and quark pair production in e+e- annihilation with particular emphasis on the PEP high statistics data and the PETRA high energy data. A global analysis is presented which tests generation universality within the standard models. A brief look is taken beyond the standard model
