The development of high dose rate brachytherapy equipment

One of cervical cancer therapy techniques is by means of irradiation using brachytherapy equipment. Although it has been developed in developed countries, in Indonesia only very big hospitals and a few of patients use this technique due to the high cost of therapy. In order to solve this problem, a cervical cancer brachytherapy equipment is developed by emphasizing local content. Beginning in 2015, PRFN develops a high-dose rate brachytherapy equipment. The program is carried out in some phases starting from design concepts, basic design, detailed design and fabrication. In the design concept, both of descriptions and design requirements are developed. Furthermore, in the basic design, the main components are successfully defined. The detailed design produces some detailed drawings and assembly drawings. For fabrication, the project is handled by private company. But until now, the brachytherapy equipment is not finished and is expected to be completed by the end of November 2015. The test will be conducted in the following year. (author)
