Distortion control in fabrication of dry well heads in nuclear power plants - a case study
Description
The paper presents a case study of distortion control in fabrication of dry well heads in nuclear power plants. The welded component is fabricated under the requirements of both ASME code and the project specifications. Dimensional stability, geometrical control, tight finished tolerances and defectless weldments are specified by the project. A description of a dry well head is given, along with the findings obtained in fabrication of two experimental prototypes. Finally the fabrication procedure of the actual project which led to satisfactory results is described. (U.K.)
