NPP decommissioning
Description
Technical cahracteristics and factors pertaining to NPP nuclear reactors decommmissioning developed by the IAEA expert working group are considered. The experience in the solution of this problem in the USA main trends and plans of the WAGR reactor decommissioning in the United Kingdom, technological developments in FRG and Japan are discussed. Activity and mass of formed in the process of decommissioning of radioactive wastes are shown. Nowadays more than 60 reactors are at the decommissioning stage. In the USA 20 power reactors are to correspond to decommissioning requirements by 2000, by 2005-50, by 2010-70. It is planned in the future decommissioning of 50 reactors (almost half of them is in the USA). However all of them are research reactors. Up to now not a single power reactor has been decommissioned
