Detection of irradiation effect on tensile fracture of GFRP by AE method

  • 1. Osaka Univ., Suita (Japan)

Description

The tensile strength did not remarkably degrade in the range of present irradiation doses. The degradation, however, was noticed in the morphology of fractured GFRP samples in which the area of whitening, the number and the size of delamination, and the length and the number of pulling out of glass fiber increased with the dose increment. AE method was recognized to be capable of detecting the irradiation induced degradation of GFRP in the tensile test. (author)
