Reactions of transition metals in the atomic state

The review of the papers published from 1945 to 1976 inclusively deals with producing organometal compounds and π-complexes by direct interaction of atomic transition metal with organic and inorganic compounds. Bis-arenium complexes of V, Mo, and W have been prepared. The mechanism of the reactions of Mo and W vapours with cyclic and non-cyclic dienes has been studied. The installations have been described for direct synthesis of organometal compounds including those of uranium and lanthanides. The possibilities of direct synthesis, which gives organometal compounds of special purity, have been considered
