New form factor results for the giant dipole resonance
- 1. Univ. of Massachusetts, Amherst, MA (United States)
Description
The possibility of extracting giant electric dipole resonance (GDR) form factors from (e, e'p) reactions has renewed interest in this subject. The authors have implemented an approach previously developed, which is based upon the Generator Coordinate Method. Using that approach they have constructed a GDR collective potential for double-closed shell N=Z nuclei, and have used as a starting point the Skyrme many-body hamiltonian. With the diagonalization of this potential they were able to obtain a general analytical expression for the form factors, which can be compared with phenomenological models and the data. Numerical results for 16O will be presented
