Validity of Denisov's analysis on linear resonant absorption in plasmas

Description
The authors find that the Denisov's analytical results are qualitatively correct, but that they need numerical corrections to fit quantitatively to the author's results. The Denisov's factor (v/sub t//12 ω L)/sup 2/3/ can be used to determine the peak ES fields at the resonant surface, if it is larger than 20 times the collisional factor ν/ω. However, a numerical coefficient 1/1.77 must be multiplied to his factor to fit the author's numerical results. On the other hand, the collisional effect is dominant to determine the peak fields, if ν/ω is larger than 3 times the Denisov's factor. Lastly, a formula to calculate exactly the peak ES fields in the case that both collisional and thermal effects of the electrons are present is derived
