Description

The shape of WC crystals, formed immediately after carbidization of single-crystal tungsten powder at 1450 deg C, 1700 deg C, and 2000 deg C during recrystallization was studied. Besides, experiments were conducted, which determined the crystallographic directions of carbon diffusion and corrected the data on the kinematics of rearrangement of the BCC lattice of W into a simple hexagonal one. The carbidization temperature corresponded to different stages of the process (1450 deg C, 1700 deg C, and 2000 deg C). The experiments show that WC powder may contain crystals with different primary shapes depending on the temperature, which would inevitably affect the properties of the products
