Description

The readout system developed to handle the signals generated by the resistive plate counter muon detector of Fermilab experiment E771 is described. The results obtained during a test run in the summer of 1990 and concerning one quarter of the total system are reported. They indicate that the RPCs and the readout system are suitable as muon detector for beam intensity up to 2x106 protons/s. (orig.)
