Investigation of mobility of lithium ions and formation of gamma-radiolysis products in lithium silicates by magnetic resonance methods

Description
The results of the studies of lithiun mobility and radiation paramagnetic centres formation in the process of gamma radiolipes in lithium ortho- ad metasilicates by 7Li NMR- and ESR -methods are presented. 7Li NMR spectra were taken in the 300-500 K temperature rauge. ESR spectra of powders, irradiated with the help of 60Co gamma-gun were registered at 77 and 295 K. The two-component 7 NMR spectra show that in a solid matrix of silicates under investigation Li ions move with different rate. With temperature increase slow movement is replaced by rapid one. Activation energy of the process constitutes 142+- kgm/mol, for metasilicate - 75+-2 kdm/mol. ESR spectra analysis has shown that the number of stable paramagnetic centres, which are formed during Li silicates gamma irradiation, is proportional to the number of Li2O groups in Li4SiO4 and Li2SiO3 molecules. The medium distance between paramagnetic centres, stabilized in a silicate matrix at irradiation temperature, is determined
