Description
Magnetic instabilities or flux jumps in multifilamentary superconducting composite conductors, exposed to a time-varying magnetic field perpendicular to the superconducting filaments, are studied. In particular, expressions for the stability limit field are determined for cases when the magnetic diffusivity is greater than the thermal diffusivity and vice versa. Examples are presented for NbTi composite conductors with CuNi matrix and Cu matrix. (author)
