Characterisation of titanium sublimation pumps used in Indus-2
- 1. Raja Ramanna Centre for Advanced Technology, Indore (India)
Description
INDUS-2 is an electron storage ring in RRCAT. Vacuum of the order of 10-10 mbar is required for a nominal lifetime of the beam. This vacuum is created using Sputter Ion Pumps (SIP) and Titanium Sublimation Pumps (TSP). SIPs are running continuously, whereas TSPs are flashed intermittently, the interval defined mainly by the saturation period of the previous layer, which depends on the base pressure during flashing. To evaluate and analyse the characteristics of the TSPs in use, some experiments were conducted in UHV Lab. This paper gives the details and results of the experiments. (author)
