Inflation, oscillation and quantum creation of the universe in gauge extended supergravities

  • 1. Polytechnical Inst., Leningrad (USSR)

Description

In gauge extended supergravities, the combined effect of the large cosmological constant allowed and the one-loop topological Casimir effect can give rise to both inflation and an oscillating universe. This is considered in detail for gauged N=4 supergravity. The probability is estimated for the quantum creation of universes; finally, the possibility is pointed out of extending these results to gauged N=8 supergravity. (orig.)
