Excitation and ionization of Rydberg atomic states at neutral particle collision with a core
Description
The studies on excitation and ionization processes of Rydberg atomic states A(n) at neutral particle β flight nearby the atomic residual A+ in the reactions A(n)+B reversible A(n')+B and A(n)+B reversible A++B+e- are carried out. The above reactions are due to external electron interaction with a dipole moment of heteronuclear quasimolecular ion BA+ produced in the A+ and B particle collision. The electron BA+ core shell does not participate in transitions, an energy exchage of relative nuclei motion with an external electron occurs. The transitions take place in the distance region the dimension of which is much less than the average distance to the external electron. In the framework of a stationary perturbation theory calculated are reaction cross sections which are represented in the form of electron and nucleus matrix element product. Specifically the cross section calculations are performed for the case of high - excited hydrogen H(n) atoms and helium He(1S) collisions. The absence of interaction of scattered and bound terms of the A(n)+B quasimolecule in such system essentially facilitates the study of process kinetics in the low-temperature hydrogen-helium plasma. An essential role of ''electron-dipole'' mechanism in a dense low-ionized plasma for electron recombination with atomic ions in the presence of neutral particles
