Mechanical behaviour of weld joints of nuclear structural materials

Creators

  • 1. Advanced Welding Processes and Modelling, Materials Technology Div., Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research, Kalpakkam (India)

Description

Most of the components are fabricated by welding. As welding is used for joining, understanding mechanical behaviour of base metal is alone not enough; the mechanical behavior of weld joints must be established in extensive and long term tests for the structural materials operating in elevated temperature service. Therefore, it is important to evaluate the strength properties and creep behavior of weld joints of nuclear structural materials
