Effect of fatigue crack shape and size on cyclic fracture toughness of VT-9 titanium alloy
Description
Effect of fatigue crack size and shape on titanium VT9 alloy specimen is studied. It is shown that the shape of a fatigue crack in a cylindrical specimen is not dependent on the applied stress and loading cyclic ratio. Tensile plastic strain gained in the process of repeated loading is responsible for titanium alloy embrittlement under cyclic stresses in the range of low-cycle fatigue fracture
