Determination of plutonium isotopic ratios and total concentration by gamma ray spectrometry
Description
A non-destructive method of analysis is being investigated for the control in situ of plutonium isotopic composition and total concentration in different matrix without preliminary calibration. The plutonium isotopic composition is determined by gamma-ray spectrometry using germanium detector systems. The same apparatus is used for direct measuring of the total plutonium concentration in solutions or solids by a differential attenuation technique based on two transmitted gamma rays with energies on both sides of the k shell absorption edge of plutonium.
Abstract (French)
Une methode non destructive d'analyse est etudiee pour controler in situ la composition isotopique et la concentration du plutonium dans des matrices diverses sans etalonnage prealable. La composition isotopique est determinee au moyen d'un spectrometre γ a detecteur au germanium de haute resolution. La meme instrumentation est utilisee pour faire une mesure directe de la concentration totale en plutonium dans un liquide ou un solide homogene par une technique d'attenuation differentielle de deux rayonnements γ situes de part et d'autres et proches de la discontinuite d'absorption K du plutonium.Files
