Advances in ion source technology
Description
This talk will briefly outline the principle sources that are currently being utilized or can be potentially used for diverse applications including radioactive ion beam (RIB) generation, accelerator driven sub-critical systems (ADS), fusion energy, accelerator mass spectrometry (AMS), ion- implantation, cluster ion-beam deposition, and biomedical research. Specific emphasis will be placed on recent technological advances to the existing sources and novel schemes of ion beam production that exhibit promise for such applications. (author)
