Activity and gamma-ray emission standards

Description

The standards made available by PTB are standards defined with regard to their activity A. If standard and measuring sample do not contain the same nuclide, the comparison with the standard is made via the emission rate R of the photons of a given energy. For this comparison, the value recommended by PTB for PTB standards should be used, as this value in many cases has been derived by emission rate measurements on specimens whose activity has been directly correlated with the activity of the standards released. Abstract (German)

Von der PTB abgegeben werden Standards, die hinsichtlich ihrer Aktivitaet A zertifiziert sind. Wenn Standard und Messprobe nicht das gleiche Nuklid enthalten, geht der Vergleich mit dem Standard ueber die Emissionsrate R der Photonen einer bestimmten Energie. Hierfuer sollte bei PTB-Standards der von der PTB empfohlene Wert gewaehrt werden, da dieser in vielen Faellen ueber eine Emissionsratenmessung an Praeparaten gemessen wurde, deren Aktivitaet direkt an die Aktivitaet der abgegebenen Standards angeschlossen ist.
