Third update of the energy program

Description

By presenting the third extension of its energy programme, the Federal Government specifies the policy by means of which it intends to continue and support the process the German economy has to undergo to adapt to the basic data that changed especially because of the extreme oil price rises in 1979/80. At the same time, this continuation constitutes a balance sheet of the energy policy which has been pursued until now. It is characterized by marked progress made in the field of energy conservation, security for acute supply difficulties, re-structuring the energy on offer and lessening the dependence on oil supplies from areas of crisis. Abstract (German)

Mit dieser Dritten Fortschreibung ihres Energieprogramms legt die Bundesregierung ihre Politik dar, mit der sie den Anpassungsprozess der deutschen Volkswirtschaft an die besonders durch die extremen Oelpreissteigerungen 1979/80 veraenderten Rahmendaten weiterfuehrt und abstuetzt. Diese Fortschreibung ist zugleich eine Bilanz der bisherigen Energiepolitik. Sie ist von deutlichen Fortschritten gekennzeichnet: bei der Energieeinsparung, der Absicherung gegen akute Versorgungsschwierigkeiten, der Umstrukturierung des Energieangebots sowie der Verringerung der Abhaengigkeit von den Oellieferungen aus den Krisengebieten.
