Session 110 - Roundtable: Alpha Resiliency Program
Description
This session focused on the UK Alpha Resilience and Capability (ARC) Program. It is a collaborative program between government and industry, with the aim of sustaining and enhancing our world leading alpha capabilities and ensuring the UK nuclear industry is ready to enact critical national programs. Through a range of interventions, the UK ARC program will augment these major alpha programs and provide several enabling projects; de-risking delivery and helping grow the UK's alpha capabilities across both civil and defense industries in the longer term (30+ year time horizon). The session explored the UK strategic direction from government, the program approach set up to meet this and highlight successes to date. It was a platform to share some of the key technical developments. The session was also an opportunity to hear from US and Canadian counterparts, both Government and industry, as we seek to explore solutions to common challenges. Panelists with presentations: Alpha Resilience and Capability (Laura Harrison, Sellafield Ltd (United Kingdom), Fiona Rayment, National Nuclear Laboratory (United Kingdom)); Los Alamos/US ARC Update (Chris Pearson, Los Alamos National Laboratory (USA)); Alpha Resilience and Capability, A Canadian Approach (Jeffrey Griffin, Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (Canada))
