Analysis of damage curves - a key for understanding point defect properties in platinum

Description

The paper presents further evidence for the free migration of a self-interstitial in the 300-350 K stage. Therefore, this stage is henceforth named stage III. Starting out from this cardinal point, the entire recovery spectrum of irradiated Pt may be understood in a straightforward manner. In particular, the specific features of Pt [i.e. the high-dose suppression of stage III, the concomitant increase of the strength of the 420-650 K stage (called stage IV), the unusual width of and the variation of the activation enthalpy, in stage IV] find their natural explanations.
