13C-13C spin-spin coupling constants in structural investigations. II. Conformational structure of vinyl ethers

Description
The 13C-13C spin-spin coupling constants between the carbon nuclei of the vinyl group were measured for a series of vinyl ethers. It was established that the unshared electron pairs of the oxygen atom can make a substantial stereospecific contribution to the direct 13C-13C constants of the adjacent nuclei. The observed effect was used to establish the conformational structure of the compounds
