Ionization of carbon in dusty H I regions
Description
The investigation of the ionization of carbon is relevant for the understanding of several astrophysical processes that occur in HI regions, where CII is the main source of electrons. The electron density is a parameter of interest for the consideration of electronic excitation of certain molecules. The column density of CII is observed by means of UV absorption lines; the emission measure is needed for the interpretation of radio recombination lines
