Development of heavy ion linear accelerator using metal seal

Tokyo Institute of Technology and Toshiba Energy Systems have collaborated on a heavy particle linear accelerators. It is important to optimize the construction and maintenance cost of the accelerator when it is introducing into the facility for particle radiotherapy from now on. In order to keep good RF and vacuum performance for long period, we have developed heavy ion linear accelerator that use metal seals instead of using O-ring seal. We will present the construction of the test cavity with metal seal and low level RF results of using this cavity. (author)
