Development of a spark chamber experiment for γ-astronomy and measurement of cosmic γ-rays during a balloon flight on June 15th, 1970
Description
Gamma converter, design, method of measurement and mode of operation of the wire spark chamber, and the read-out electronics of the magnetic-core memory are described. With this measuring equipment, the extraterrestrial component of the gamma radiation was measured in the stratosphere for the first time in the range from 10-100 MeV. The angle of impact of the photons did not have any correlation with the milky way. (BJ/AK)

Gammakonverter, Aufbau, Messprinzip und Betriebsverhalten der Drahtfunkenkammer und die Ausleseelektronik fuer den Kernspeicher werden beschrieben. Mit dieser Messanordnung wurde erstmals ein Bereich der Stratosphaere die extraterristische Komponente der Gammastrahlung im Bereich von 10-100 MeV gemessen. Die Einfallsrichtung der Photonen zeigte keine Korrelation zur Milchstrasse. (BJ)Additional details
