Rare earths, renewable energies, and energy storage. Technical sheet
Description
This study first discusses the context and stakes related to the use of rare earth materials: description of chemical properties and characteristics, indication of the location of the main deposits, of the various applications, of the economic and political context, discussion of the criticality of these materials and of their environmental impacts. The next part more particularly addresses the use of rare earths in renewable energies, either for renewable energy production or for renewable energy storage. The consequences of this use of rare earths for the development of renewable energies are then discussed
