Nanocrystalline TLD/OSLD phosphors: synthesis, characterization and applications

Creators

  • 1. Department of Physics and Astrophysics, University of Delhi, Delhi (India)

Description

Since the discovery of X-rays and other high-energy radiations, it was observed that the usual photo-detectors cannot be used for the detection of high-energy radiations due to their small interaction cross sections. Also the high-energy of the radiation could cause the damage to the detector itself on repeated usages. Other kinds of detectors were, therefore, investigated. There are various kinds of detectors used for this purpose. These are ionization chambers, proportionate counters, Fricke solution and Gel-dosimeters, Streak cameras, Semiconductor detectors, Scintillators, Thermoluminescent detectors (TLD), Optically Stimulated Luminescent (OSL) phosphors
