Kinetics and mechanism of water catalytic oxidation by a Ru3+(bpy)3 complex in the presence of colloidal cobalt hydroxide

Description
Kinetics of water catalytic oxidation up to molecular oxygen by a ruthenium(3) trisbipyridyl complex in the presence of a starch stabilized colloidal cobalt hydroxide was studied. Oxidizing agent consumption was determined to correspond to the first order kinetics as to its concentration. Dependence of the studied constant of that process rate an catalyzer concentration, initial concentration of an oxidizing agents and its reduced from and dependences of oxygen yield on [H+] within pH 7-11 and 10-7 - 1--3 mole/l catalyzer concentration were determined. A kinetic pattern and a molecular mechanism of the reaction conforming to the experimental data were proposed
Abstract (Russian)
Изучена кинетика каталитического окисления воды до молекулярного кислорода трисбипиридильным комплексом рутения(3) в присутствии коллоидного гидроксида кобальта, стабилизованного крахмалом. Обнаружено, что расходование окислителя соответствует кинетике первого порядка относительно его концентрации. Получены зависимости наблюдаемой константы скорости этого процесса от концентрации катализатора, начальной концентрации окислителя и его восстановленной формы, а также установлены зависимости выходов кислорода от [Н+] в области рН 7-11 и концентрации катализатора 10-7 - 10-3 моль/лAdditional details
