Description
The effect of the technique of the 35KhN3MFA steel melting for large billets with oxidizing duplex process with complete and partial silicon reduction on austenite decomposition in isothermal and nonisothermal conditions and hardenability is compared. A strong effect of the melting technique on bainite austenite decomposition is most probably caused by changes in dendrite nonhomogeneity. It deserves further study not only in connection with hardenability, but for the understanding of the main factors of bainite transformation kinetics as well
