Sizewell B simulators prepare staff for big day

Creators

  • 1. Nuclear Electric plc, Ipswich (United Kingdom)

Description

When Britain's first PWR station, Sizewell B, went critical in January, the plant could boast one of the best prepared staffs ever assembled for a first-plant commissioning. The training programme devised by the plant operator, Nuclear Electric, responds particularly to human factor concerns first raised by the Three Mile Island (TMI) accident and then by the decision to abandon the construction of gas-cooled reactors for an unfamiliar reactor type. At its heart is the full-scope Sizewell B simulator. (author)
