Helium porosity formation in different materials during post-irradiation annealing

  • 1. MIFI, Moscow (Russian Federation)

Description

Development of helium porosity in a.c.c- and f.c.c-alloys and construction steel after the He+ irradiation by the 40 keV energy to 5x1020 m-2 dose at 20 Deg C and following annealing at 650 Deg C during 1 and 5 h was studied by expose electron microscopy. Formation of smaller bubbles with high density in the a.c.c- materials as compared with the f.c.c-materials is detected under these conditions. During 5 h annealing in all materials, except nickel, larger porosity is formed because of inflow of thermal vacancies from free surface, than it is during 1 h annealing
