Description
The spectrometric aspects of the application of a high-pressure gridded ionization chamber for measuring the energy and angular distributions of α-particles in spontaneous and induced α-decay of different nuclei are discussed. Physical and technical problems of the detector operation are presented in detail. It is shown that a gridded ionization chamber is a very powerful detector for spectroscopy of α-particles emitted from ground and excited nuclear states populated via neutron induced reactions and spontaneous decay. Detailed information about nuclear structure can be obtained by using such detectors. 5 refs., 1 tab., 6 figs
