Evaluation of thermal stratification in class 1 nuclear piping

Description

When a fluid within a container separates into layers according to its temperature, it is said that thermal stratification of the fluid occurs. This phenomenon is present in certain fluid-carrying pipes under the following circumstances: - The pipes bring into contact two fluids at different temperatures - Laminar flow - The pipes have horizontal runs - The pipes are of a large diameter The more accentuated the aforementioned circumstances, are the more pronounced the phenomenon of stratification.
