Glasslike behaviour of a neutron-irradiated Ni-doped Al2O3 crystal

Description
The effects of γ, electron and neutron irradiation on the thermal conductivity (70 mK / 100 K) of Ni-doped Al2O3 and pure Al2O3 single crystals have been studied. The results after neutron irradiation show that the behavior of the Ni3+ ions in the perturbed crystal is similar to that of TLS in structural glasses. (orig.)
